Ocean City Chinese Restaurant - Rockford, MI

Having traveled throughout China I have had the opportunity to sample a wide variety of Chinese food. Because of import restrictions on some ingredients and different cultural tastes the Chinese food in America is prepared to suit the tastes of Americans. The better establishments will retain the authentic taste of the food while maintaining the quality that diners look for in a meal. Ocean City does this and more.

This little restaurant offers a huge selection of Sichuanese, Cantonese, Hunan and Thai dishes, all prepared with an expertise that will please the palette. The ambiance is soft and inviting and the wait staff extra courteous. While you are waiting for your meal you can admire the paintings and crafts on display. Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 - 2:00 a buffet lunch is available for the ridiculously low price of 4.95. There is no need to eat a fast food meal when this is available. Their meals start at 5.95.

As a side note I would recommend staying away from the squid unless it is something you have tried before. Many do no find it delectable as it is rubbery and tasteless. It is also very high in artery clogging fat content. This is not a condemnation of its preparation, simply an observation of the food and its lack of nutritional value (280 mg cholesterol in an unprepared 4 oz. serving).

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants in all of Kent County and I highly recommend it.
